Tunerzine.com Announces Project Toyota Prius Hybrid

To usher in a new era of hybrid tuning and customization, Tunerzine.com has teamed up with its partners in order to showcase what can be done to the ever-popular Toyota Prius.  The project will consist of tasteful, functional modifications that will not impact the daily drivability of the Toyota Prius.  Most importantly, it's not a project with a long list of custom modifications, but rather products any Prius enthusiast can get their hands on.

Starting off the project is a render courtesy of Gurnade.  Tunerzine.com sat down with Josh Cloud and his team of talented designers to mix-and-match parts to determine what would look best on the project Prius without going overboard.  The result is something that everyone involved will be proud of.

Wald International Previews Tuned Toyota Prius

Wald International has teased a front shot of their upcoming styling kit for the Toyota Prius.  Hybrid tuning is already extremely popular over in Japan, and we're hoping it catches on over in the Stateside.  With so many Priuses on the road, we can't imagine that it'd be much longer before the tuning bug bites some of the owners.  SpeedMotiv will be building up a project Prius to help usher in this new era of tuning.

So we've been doing a lot of research on body kits and other accessories for the Toyota Prius and we recently ran across Wald's rendition.  Known for their VIP-style kits and clean styling, they continue it on the Prius, following a majority of its natural lines while making it slightly more aggressive.  We'll have to see this kit in person before making a decision on whether or not we like it, but we were hoping it'd be a little more than what we see.  The side skirts however, are the cleanest ones we've caught our eyes on yet for the Toyota Prius.

We have all seen the rendering from ASI's Prius Project we have posted couple months ago.  Fast forward a bit and ASI is ready to unveil their Prius with their new bodykit at the Tokyo Auto Salon.  Don't worry speedmotiv will be making the trip out to Japan to check out the show and we will be sure to bring you all the coverage.  For now this teaser pic from ASI will do.

Just spotted this pic of a new kit from Wald for the new Toyota Prius, and I gotta ask what is going on here?  The front does not even look like the original car anymore and there are just too many vents...  Sorry but this is a big fail from Wald.

Video: Toyota Prius PHV Technical Video

Toyota just announced details for it's new Plug in Prius yesterday at the LA Auto show.  Toyota has released a video along with the announcment.  In this video toyota explores the technical aspects of start-up, cruising, acceleration, deceleration, as well as our new high-efficiency charging system, new HV battery, power control ECU, and plug-in remote A/C system.  Watch the video after the break.  For more info on the Plug in Prius check out http://www.priusphv.com/

ASI Prius Update

We posted about ASI's new Prius project a few months ago, which will feature a complete new bodykit.  ASI has released a teaser photo showing the back bumper taking shape.  They are still tweaking the front so no pictures yet.  They have announced that they will be working on a rear wing for the car and some new vertical LED lights and signal lights.  Should definitely be interesting!

Tuner Charge Speed has recently released a new aero kit for the popular Toyota Prius.  The kit features nice and subtle touches, including a front lip side skirts and rear trim.  All available in either Carbon Fiber or FRP.  More pics after the break.

ASI has just recently announced the name of their new junior company which will be ASI green, and to kick it off they will be launching a new kit for the Prius.  The kit seen here will be sporting a full bodykit which include fornt bumper skirts, and rear bumpers.  Look for more updates here as production gets underway.

ASI exotic tuner has just announced their new ASI Junior Brand, and their first project looks like it's going to be the new Toyota Prius.  Here are some initial renderings which have evolved a couple of times, but looks like it will be pretty aggressive.  What do you guys think?  I would suggest cutting out the slits in the vent area.

Looks like well know exotic tuner has just picked up a Toyota Prius, and is planning on developing high end components for the Prius!  The tuner ASI is well known for tuning Ferrari's and Bentley's but its nice to see the change of pace.  Im exited to see what they have up their sleeves...

Toyota Prius Plug in Hybrid Concept to be displayed at Frankfurt

Toyota has just announced a Prius Plug-in Hybrid Concept that will make it's world debut at the 2009 Franfurt Motor Show.  The specifics has yet to be disclosed but Toyota will be releasing more than 150 units of the plug-in Prius to selected fleet customers as part of an extensive field test.  No details has been released regarding the range or fuel efficiency yet, so will have wait until its debut in Frankfurt on September 15th.

Toyota Prius Coupe Rumors

New reports are indicating that Toyota is currently working on a coupe version of the popular Prius Hybrid.   There's not much details at the moment but one of the biggest rumors is that Toyota is considering using Pininfarina or Italdesign to create the styling for the new model.

The drivetrain would most likely consist of the same 1.8- liter four cylinder engine with Synergy Drive.  If these rumors are true, looks like Honda will have some competition with it's upcoming CR-Z Hybrid

Top Secret New Parts for Toyota Prius

For those looking to spice up their new 2010 Toyota Prius, look no further.  Popular Japanese tuner Top Secret has new parts available for hybrid.  The most visible is a new aero kit, which is designed both for looks and to aid in fuel efficiency.  The parts are available in both FRP or carbon fiber, and can be purchased as a kit or separately.  A new titanium exhaust is also offered, again with efficiency in mind, Top Secret chose titanium to reduce weight and boost efficiency.  More pics after the break.
