Top Secret Goes Godzilla

Top Secret is world-famous in the tuning world.  They've done stuff many of us can only dream of with cars, and their popularity spawns from high quality parts that produce the power we all crave.  The Nissan R35 GT-R was going to be a popular car in Japan for tuners, no doubt, and now Top Secret has finally unleashed their catalog of products for the monster.

The goal of their products is to maintain streetability and driveability - starting with their twin turbo upgrade.  Good for around 600 horsepower, the ball bearing twin turbos are probably on the top of every GT-R owner's wish list.  For those just seeking new performance without going overboard, Top Secret has their Super Suction Kit which sports larger 56 mm stainless piping.

Little amenities include an oil catch can and hood dampers, something that we're still surprised didn't come from the factory from Nissan.  Check out more photos of the products after the jump.

NISMO Super Taikyu Nissan GT-R

There has been a ton of news with the Nissan GT-R as it continues its dominance on the track.  Whether it's full of turns or straight-quarter-mile-speed, GT-Rs all around the world are shattering records and turning heads.  NISMO has in the works a ST-1 specs Nissan GT-R that again, looks very promising for the future of this chassis.  We can't wait to see how these GT-Rs do out against the competition this season.  More photos after the break.

Quad-Charged GT-R

Other than you really have to watch the video.  Power Enterprise in Japan takes the factory twin-turbocharged GT-R and makes it an even more powerful piece of machinery by throwing on twin Rotrex superchargers.  All famous Japanese driver Dai takes it out for a fancy spin.  Too bad there aren't any English captions.  Video after the break.

Nissan R35 GT-R: Even Minor Accidents aren't Cheap!

Ever since the GT-R made it over to the Stateside, automotive enthusiasts on this soil has been drooling.  Its performance is basically unrivaled and the price tag supports that point.  Nevertheless we feel that anyone that actually owns this masterpiece is fortunate.  That is until you get in an accident.  We all know major accidents can be costly, but this unfortunate owner just got into a minor bumper to bumper accident.  But behold, the nifty (or crazy?) pedestrian safety system was triggered.  As you can tell by the photo of the car, any damage is hardly noticeable other than the fact that the hood is propped upward by the windshield.  This is a one use system that was designed by the Japanese for safety purposes is a driver was to hit an actual pedestrian.  The belief is that the unlucky walker would settle on the hood rather than on the windshield or anything worse.  We're not here to argue the functionality behind this system, but to drop our jaws in disbelief at his repair bill.  You see this system caused this lucky GT-R owner to have to replace, in his own words, "the bumper, rams, bonnet hinges...and of course the ECU."  We think it's more of a module than the entire ECU, but at the end of the day his total repair cost was... Eleven Thousand Pounds.  Or in America, close to $18,500.00.  Thinking twice about owning a GT-R?  Or I guess if you're going to get into an accident, might as well make it worth your repair bill huh?  More photos of this car after the break.

Matte Black Nissan GT-R

For the most part I'm a fan of matte black cars.  On most of them it really gives them a nice stealthy and aggressive look.  But on the Nissan GT-R it strikes mixed emotions for me.  Overall the matte black finish kills some of the attractive lines and curves found on the Nissan GT-R.  What do you guys think?  More pics after the jump.

Like most sane human beings, if I had the money I would be at the Nissan dealership tapping my foot impatiently waiting for the keys to a brand new R35 GT-R.  But alas, some of us are not fortunate enough to squeeze a GT-R into their budget, so for now all we can do is browse the Internet, look and dream...or drool.  I spotted these photos of a trio of R35 GT-Rs that really caught my eye.  The photography is excellent and these GT-Rs are very tastefully modded.  Not too much, not too little.  Check out some more photos after the break.

Edmunds.com: Corvette ZR1 vs. Nissan GT-R

It seems like it has become harder and harder to deny the performance success of the new Nissan GT-R.  In fact, it almost seems like some media outlets (ahem Edmunds.com) is getting sick and tired of the dominance the GT-R has been receiving in the light.  In this video, they take a Corvette ZR1 and put it to the test against the Nissan GT-R.  Talk about doing an apples to oranges comparison.  Completely different price points and baseline performance figures, and that's just to start.  Is this what media against the GT-R has now become?  Watch the video after the break and let us know what you think.

Vivid Racing has posted up some preview pics of Ventross' new styling package for the Nissan GT-R.  For those that don't know, Ventross is Vorsteiner's Japanese-tuning branch, specializing in Japanese manufactured vehicles while Vorsteiner will stick to the European makes and models.  Vorsteiner's quality has been impeccable throughout the years and we'd expect nothing less than the best quality from them.  We're excited to see this product out on the market.  More pics after the jump.

Nissan GT-R Takes Third on the Podium

Round 2 of SUPER GT was held on Sunday, April 19th at Suzuka Circuit (5.807km/lap) in Suzuka City, Mie prefecture. For the 52-lap event, the “IMPUL CALSONIC GT-R” (#12 - Tsugio Matsuda/Sebastien Philippe) qualified and started fifth, and after a tenacious drive, finished on the third step of the podium. Starting the race in pole position, the “MOTUL AUTECH GT-R” (#1 - Satoshi Motoyama/Benoit Treluyer) led until the final stages, but tyre trouble caused the car to fall back. The troublesome race saw them finish in 11th.  Complete release and more photos after the jump.

FIA GT1 Nissan GT-R Updates

It seems most of the news we heard about the GT-R when it was first released was how dominant it was on the track and road courses worldwide.  So it's natural that we're overly-curious about how the GT-R will do once it's prepped to race and compete against other world class vehicles.  Well the FIA GT1 GT-R finished up some testing and once again rose to the top.  These times aren't official by any means (no real competition), but they were documented while the vehicles made their testing lap sessions.
