Wraptivo Building Honda CR-Z For SEMA 2010

RJ De Vera teams up with Wraptivo for an awesome CR-Z build

Wraptivo Building Honda CR-Z For SEMA 2010

September 1st 2010 Irvine, CA – Wraptivo™ will produce our very first in house SEMA car in the form of a 2011 Honda CR-Z sport hybrid concept build dubbed “Type-F”.The goal for the Wraptivo™ Honda CR-Z Type-F Concept is to evoke the notion of fun, which lies at the core of the CR-Z DNA while also giving a nod to the spirit and Honda heritage of the CR-Z. The Type-F concept will feature a sportier aesthetic over stock with the use of a combination of Honda Accessories Aero pieces and along with other aero components from Japan. The aero package will be complemented with a design package created to give this concept a special uniqueness yet with a familiarity that is still unmistakably Honda. The vehicle will be wrapped with Wraptivo™ Matte Black and Carbon Black Film while small accents will be left in gloss black. The CR-Z will act as a canvas for Wraptivo to showcase its vehicle wrap options and give customizers a preview of how they can take advantage of this technology as a new way to protect their factory paint while also having the ability to easily change the look of their vehicle.

Rest of the press release available after the break.

Axis Styling Fit

Nice clean Fit from Japan with Type-R influenceWe

Axis Styling Fit

We're huge fans of Honda's Fit, having built a project car ourselves a few years back.  The facelifted generation along with some classy Japanese tuning really makes Axis Styling's Fit one of the cleanest we've seen.  It's just so simple with its Type-R influence modifications that we felt we had to post it up to share.  We hope to see someone rockin' the kit here in the States one day.  More pics after the jump.

Project SI Wrap Design

Help us pick which wrap we apply to the SI

Project SI Wrap Design

With the help of NWMotiv I am looking to transform this 2007 Honda Civic SI into a street legal track car.   Working with various sponsors to help make this project a reality is a great way for me to help show you what simple modifications can help you and your car compete on a high level.  Currently we have three great sponsors with the project:  Cricket Communications, Go-Power Motorsports, and Skunk2 Racing.  Each one of our current sponsors and on coming sponsors are devoted to showing you the best results we can with the products on the car.

Random Hot Cars

Just some really nice cars we ran across on the Web

Random Hot Cars

I admit I spend a lot of time lurking on forums and blogs just looking for nice cars to look at.  It probably goes back to the days where I had to scour everywhere looking for potential feature cars for Modified Magazine.  So maybe it's habit, or maybe I just like looking at nice, modified cars.  So here's just a random collection of cars I ran across on the Web today - plenty more after the jump.  Feel free to leave a comment with a link to something you think should deserve the spotlight!

Skunk2 Drive-By-Wire Pro Series Throttle Body

Skunk2 is revolutionizing the way we look at sport compact parts

Skunk2 Drive-By-Wire Pro Series Throttle Body

Back in the late 90s when I first started getting into sport compacts and imports, Skunkworks was the name to pay attention to for naturally aspirated tuning.  Their ground breaking naturally aspirated Integra was setting records and their parts backed it all up.  A few years later, their name was changed to Skunk2 Racing, but the brands and the parts never changed.  They continued paving the way, mostly in the Honda and Acura market, with state-of-the-art goods that we all loved.

Today I got an obscure email from Skunk2 saying that they had developed something revolutionary with their newest Honda product.  I was a little skeptical at first thinking, what can be so revolutionary in the Honda market?  Well low and behold, Skunk2 Racing has made the first ever drive-by-wire big-bore throttle body and it's worth shining the spotlight on.  Check out more photos of this beauty after the break along with Skunk2 Racing's product description.

Mugen Honda CR-Z Seen Stickered Up, Ready to Roll

Honda's new Hybrid hatch is getting plenty of attention in Japan

Mugen Honda CR-Z Seen Stickered Up, Ready to Roll

Honda's new CR-Z is getting a ton of attention out in Japan from Mugen to Spoon to HKS. Hybrid-tuning has taken a whole new formation in the Land of the Rising Sun ever since the Prius and Insight made a splash. Mugen was one of the first few on the forefront tuning the CR-Z, naturally, and now they've taken an interesting "green theme" throughout one of their project cars. A ton of race-inspired graphics but there's absolutely no denying that Mugen is promoting green and hybrid on their CR-Z. We'll be interested to hear some hardcore performance figures out of the car and seeing how it does in the States. More pics after the jump.

C-West 2010: Honda CR-Z, Insight and Mazda RX-8

C-West back in the spotlight?

C-West 2010: Honda CR-Z, Insight and Mazda RX-8

In the early 2000's, C-West was all the rage on the Stateside.  The appeal of their kits, especially on the EK, set a new standard in popularity.  Their carbon fiber time attack S2000 was groundbreaking.  But since then we haven't heard much out of the famed Japanese body-kit manufacturer but it seems like they're still chugging along and growing with the new market trends.  Caught these renders of upcoming kits for 2010 where C-West goes green, much like many other Japanese aftermarket manufacturers.  Upcoming is a kit for the CR-Z and Insight from Honda, and traditional C-West design on a Mazda RX-8.  I like the fact that C-West is going conservative on the hybrids instead of big and bold like some of their old kit designs.  Check out the Insight and the RX-8 after the jump.

First Race of the Seaon for the Project SI

Great first event!!!

First Race of the Seaon for the Project SI

This weekend marked the first race of the season for the Project SI with the Snake River Autocross club.   Over the winter the car saw a few minor changes to it, with the addition of a rear camber kit from our boys at Skunk2 and a new set of Dunlop Star Specs (235/40/17).   If you remember from last year the Project SI runs in a class unique to this SCCA club.  The class is called Idaho Motor Sports (or IMS for short), this class is for the local forum that brings out pretty much any street car to compete.  For this class the rules are pretty simple, because there are only 2 of them:  1. Street Legal and 2. Street Tires (140 Tread wear and up).   The IMS class is filled with almost everything you can think of, high horse power Evolutions to 1980s Honda’s and big mix in-between.

Noblesse Honda CR-Z

The generation of CR-Z tuning has begun!

Noblesse Honda CR-Z

After visiting Tokyo Auto Salon and seeing how rampant hybrid-tuning was over there, it's no surprise that Honda's new CR-Z would become a hit with the aftermarket.  We've already seen iterations from Mugen and Spoon Sports and now Noblesse has thrown their black on black CR-Z into the mix.  This one seems to have received quite the treatment, hitting the track to put it to the test.  We're still not sure on how the CR-Z will fare here in the States with only 122-hp and weighing in at over 2,500 lbs.  Will it bring Honda back on the map with stateside tuners?  More pics after the jump along with a video.

Project SI - Skunk2 Rear Camber Kit Install

Once more goodie from Skunk2 for this upcoming racing season!

Project SI - Skunk2 Rear Camber Kit Install

With the racing season for our Project SI just under 2 weeks away its time we start getting the car ready.  This last week Skunk2 announced the release of the new Rear Camber Kit for the 2006+ Honda Civic SI, lucky for us we managed to get our hands on one.   Let me just start by saying this part is amazing, the quality is off the charts and gold color never hurts.  Now like we mentioned in the last update on the Skunk2 Rear Camber Kit, this new kit will allow you to adjust the camber on the rear without have to remove the part.

More details on the Install after the jump.

Mugen Honda CR-Z

Honda's new hatch, succcessor to the CR-X, gets the Mugen treatment

Mugen Honda CR-Z

Mugen hasn't been making a lot of noise recently, especially with Honda introducing and marketing the Modulo brand heavily at Tokyo Auto Salon.  It almost seems as if Mugen is nonexistent these days.  They've taken the new Honda CR-Z hatchback, the successor to the ever popular CR-X, and has decked it out with a full aero kit tuning package, exhaust, possibly suspension and wheels.  Some may not be a fan of the styling of Mugen, but it definitely shows that the new CR-Z has tuning potential.  More pics after the jump.

Skunk2 '06+ Civic Rear Camber Kit

We can't wait to run this new kit on the Project SI

Skunk2 '06+ Civic Rear Camber Kit

Today Skunk2 announced the launch of their newly designed Rear Camber kit for the '06 Honda Civic.    With new advancments in the design you no longer will you have to disconnect the arm from the chassis of the car.   Now you can adjust the rear camber by simply loosening the jam nuts and adjust to your fitting.

Skunk2 was kind enough to send us this kit so that we can fine tune the suspension for our upcoming season, starting March 14th.   Be sure to stay with Speedmotiv for updates this year on the progress of the project Si.

For the full press release be sure to head to Skunk2 and read up.
