Formula DRIFT Announces Schedule Change for 2009 Season

Long Beach, Calif. – June 25, 2009 – Formula DRIFT has announced a schedule change for the 2009 season. Round 6: Locked and Loaded at Infineon Raceway will be re-scheduled from September 12 to August 21-22. Formula DRIFT has been added to the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma race weekend.  Rest of the release after the break.

Our good friends have posted up some great event coverage from the Drift Mania Round 1 2009 event in Quebec City.  Patrick Cyr took home the win in his awesome AE86 with a follow up from Matt Waldin in his Nissan 350z. Tunerzine.com: Formula DRIFT Round 3

Phuong Tao headed out to Wall Speedway this past weekend and caught some great drifting action through his eyes.  Round 3 of Formula DRIFT was packed with action despite having a rain out the first day of the event.  Regardless, Team Falken stepped up to the plate, or shall we say podium, by clinching first, second and third.  Darren McNamara in the Sears Saturn Sky, Vaughn Gittin JR in the new 2010 Mustang and Tyler McQuarrie in the 350Z convertible.  Check out more photos after the jump and the full coverage on Tunerzine.com.

Falken Tire Sweeps the Podium at Formula DRIFT, Wall Speedway

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ (June 8, 2009)  Performance and preparation paid off as Team Falken Tire’s factory drivers swept the podium at Wall Speedway in Saturday night’s round 3 of the 2009 Formula Drift season. Darren McNamara took the top rung in his Saturn Sky; Vaughn Gittin, Jr., earned second with his 2010 Ford Mustang GT; and Tyler McQuarrie finished third, driving his Nissan 350Z.



The achievement was historical as this was the first time ever for three Team Falken cars to take the top three positions as well as the first time one team has dominated the podium.

D1 Grand Prix Round 2 in Florida

Our friends over at Wrecked Magazine along with fellow Tunerzine photographer Ryan Meloy has some fantastic coverage up from the second round of D1 Grand Prix.  This past weekend's event was held at Gulfstream Park in South Florida.  The Japanese drivers took a clean sweep of the podium with Daigo Saito claiming first yet again.  Check out a few more pics after the jump and the source for the entire gallery.

D1GP Heads to Miami

LOS ANGELES (May 12, 2009) - After a three-year absence in the United States, the D1 Grand Prix made its comeback on May 2, at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Race fans cheered as Daigo Saito and his Toyota Chaser grabbed the top spot in the first of four scheduled rounds in the 2009 D1GP USA Championship Points Series. Competitors from around the world with gather again Saturday, May 30 at Gulfstream Park Raceway in Hallandale Beach, FL for the second round of D1GP USA’s 2009 series. D1GP USA opted to switch locations to accommodate larger crowds.  Rest of the release after the jump.

Long Beach, Calif. – May 11, 2009 – Formula DRIFT Round 2: Proving Ground at Road Atlanta had Chris Forsberg in the NOS Energy Drink / Maxxis Nissan 350Z claiming the victory. The win moves him into 2nd place overall in the Formula DRIFT Championship point standings and gives him the lead in the chase for the Tires.com Triple Crown bonus.
