With the racing season for our Project SI just under 2 weeks away its time we start getting the car ready. This last week Skunk2 announced the release of the new Rear Camber Kit for the 2006+ Honda Civic SI, lucky for us we managed to get our hands on one. Let me just start by saying this part is amazing, the quality is off the charts and gold color never hurts. Now like we mentioned in the last update on the Skunk2 Rear Camber Kit, this new kit will allow you to adjust the camber on the rear without have to remove the part.
More details on the Install after the jump.
So now for some quick steps on how to install the Skunk2 Rear Camber Kit:
Tools needed: 14mm Socket
19mm Socket
5" Extension (or around that size)
Side Note:Removing the back section of the exhaust when installing the passenger side will make your install easier and quicker.
Step 1: Lift car up and remove the rear rims:
Step 2: Loosen/Remove the bolt holding the stock arm to the hub (14mm socket on left/19mm socket on right):
Step 3: Remove the two 14mm bolts holding the other end of the stock arm to the frame:
Stop and Compare: Stock arm vs. Skunk2 Camber Kit:
Stop and Compare: Stock arm weights in at 4.4lbs:
Stop and Compare: Skunk2 arm weights in at 3.2lbs:
Step 4: After installing the new rod with the 2 washers and snap rights, its time to mount the back portion of the Skunk2 arm to the frame (use the existing bolts for this, 14mm):
Step 5: Once mounted you can start to screw in the bushing that will attach the Skunk2 arm to the hub:
Step 6: Mount the front part of arm to the hub using the existing bolt. At this point also measure where you are at currently to match on the other side:
Overall this install was very easy and straight forward. Everything lined up and was a nice fit. We messed with camber adjustments also, couldn't be easier to adjust to your liking. With this arm on you can adjust +3 or -3 in the camber, which will be perfect for any setup you need for your Honda Civic SI.
Big thanks to Skunk2 for their support in the project car and helping us this racing season.
Stay posted, we have some more big updates on the way.
